Voltage Reg. Bypass?

Postby 2SLO » Tue May 31, 2016 8:12 pm

Hey guys.

I have a 63 cub with a bad voltage regulator. When i jump the field terminal to ground, it charges.

My question is, If i put a switch between field and ground, and switch it periodically on and off to charge while running, will it hurt anything?

I need to use this machine for 5 or 6 hours before i can get to tractor supply.

THanks for the help!

full fielding is way to test the system, so the generator is putting out full voltage all the time instead of being controlled by the regulator, I think you would be better off just keeping the battery charged up and use it that way until repaired

Yup, unless your battery is completely shot, the tractor will run for several days of normal operation on a single battery charge.
