Distributor points?

Postby UK-Cub » Wed Jun 01, 2016 7:58 am

Morning gents.

Are distributor points readily available in the US? By that I mean are they at any outlets ready to be bought over the counter?

I read, as other non US based owners must do, with a certain amount of envy that you can get parts so easily for Cubs. We have a Case / IH dealer in town and I can get some UNF / UNC screws but that's about it, quote a part number for a Cub component and they're shaking their head before I finish.

Last year someone brought me a NAPA oil filter and recently someone brought me a brake band but when I ordered 4 X 10 dollar seals to come by post the total cost was over 100 dollars including all sorts of shipping, customs and handling charges. No criticism of the supplier that's how it is. Different UK suppliers advertising on the web and in magazines said ex stock but come to place an order and they offered me SIMILAR, I kid you not, metric sizes.

I should've realised that at sometime I might need points and as friends are doing a touring holiday (vacation) I thought I'd ask, they'll be traveling where their fancy takes them, no two days in the same place.

Yes, they are readily available and usually in stock, at most any retail auto parts store.

hi,

beware, Us cubs have a delco distributor while French cubs have a Ducelier distributor!
points does not interchange.

you can get point at : http://www.laboutiquedutracteur.com/A-8 ... 59r91.aspx
what makes my cub very rare is that it's the only one I've ever owned.

Yaume,

I've got a Delco starter not sure about the distributor, I'll check.

Thank you so much for the link, I drive to Perpignan every year to watch the Catalans Dragons in the Superleague (rugby league) so will be passing Toulouse second week of July, provided the petrol strikes are all finished.

I'll make up a shopping list for the parts I'll need.

Regards, David
