The spline on a the Cubs PTO isn't standard. It also doesn't rotate at the standard 540rpm. I believe it also rotates opposite direction.

:Dito: on the info by havoc1482. And in addition, the standard cub has only about 10 hp. You might consider something like this:

With a Hub City 22 PTO reducer/reverser, I think a Cub could handle a 4 foot brush hog if the stuff wasn't too think. Probably similar to a Woods 42.

Question. Are you wanting a pull behind lawn mower, something to knock down and cut brush, or mow tall heavy grass?
I have an excuse. CRS.

It doesn't connect to the PTO but I use a Swisher Rough Cut with a B&S engine. It works GREAT! Works on weeds, briars, and smallish sprouts. It has a 11 1/2 HP B&S but since the power doesn't go thru a 90 degree turn it is at least 15% more efficient than a standard brush hog using gear box. The B&S uses more gas than the Cub! tall heavy grass and brush
The machine Wrink3 posted would probably work better for tall heavy grass and some occasional brush.

I have a standard Cub and a 154 with creeper. When the pasture grass gets above 18" tall, neither machine will satisfactorily mow, not even the 154 with creeper engaged.

The pasture grass is much higher than 18 inches, more like 2 to 3 ft high, this property has been vacant for quite some time, and well over grown, the property is 12 acres.

If you want to use a Cub to mow 12 acres of tall grass use a sickle bar mower made for the Cub. You will be out there for awhile.

From your description, your Cub will not be able to handle the tasks.

Shortly after purchasing the acreage, over grown and not maintained for years, I purchased a WD Allis Chalmers with 5 foot tow behind brush type mower. Mowed the weeds, some 7 feet tall, bypassing the thickets, brush, and trees.

Herbicide on the thickets, brush, and trees I wanted to remove. After thickets and brush killed and dried, mowed off. Trees after killed were cut off leaving a 3 foot tall stump. Then fastened boxes for cattle salt and mineral blocks to the top of the stumps. Couple of years with cattle stomping around the stumps, they were easily pulled out.

Reminder, cut off brush leaves stumps which will puncture tractor tires.
I have an excuse. CRS.

This is a rough cut not a bush hog and it has it own 15hp engine. http://www.mowersdirect.com/Dirty-Hand- ... 64975.html It is a more solid build than the swisher and has Kohler engine instead of B&S. I bought this this year and have only done limited cutting so far but I plan to use the offset feature with a c-2 on the cub to either cut twice as much or double cut with once pass.
When you only have 9 horsepower you need to know the names of all of the ponies!

Ok, going to toss this out. One pull behind mower is the fast hitch Mott Flail mower. I have cut through 6' tall hay with it raised up. That might work. I would suggest walking the property and look for saplings other stuff too big to cut and clearing them out at ground level.

Getting back to the Flail Mower, there are 2 types of blades. Rough and finish
