Will it start with a hand crank?

Postby Luke470 » Mon Jun 13, 2016 7:16 pm

I've got a cub that has a bad generator and voltage regulator.
Is it possible that it will start with a hand crank?

Is it a magneto? Or is it a battery ignition?

In theory, yes it should start with a hand crank, especially with a magneto. A battery ignition can also start with the hand crank, but the battery has to have a charge and with a bad gen/alt it will slowly drain.

Tuned properly it should start with a crank with a mag.
It is common sense to take a method and try it. If it fails, admit it frankly and try another. But above all, try something.

Sure it will start, assuming your ignition system is good. Make sure it is timed just right ... you don't want to break your arm!
