electrical

Postby ratchet2764 » Mon Jun 13, 2016 7:40 pm

Are there photos in the manual that show connections from battery to starter, et. al? I downloaded the manual but can't seem to find them. I have a "49 cub that I just inherited and want to get her going!

There are drawings in the Parts Catalog that illustrate what you're looking for.

Tell us about your tractor. Is it a 6V or a 12V? A magneto or distributor?

PDF Manuals link in ribbon across top of screen. Go to Service Manuals then Wiring Diagrams, or directly here: http://www.farmallcub.com/[ Sorry, direct links to manual section is not allowed. ]/index.php?dirpath=./files/Service%20Manuals/Wiring%20diagrams&order=0

Don't know if you're looking for a photograph or a diagram of how it's supposed to be wired.

BTW, there's more than just hooking up a battery and starter. Before you pull that starter rod, prime the oil pump to prevent engine damage on start-up and check out this list things to do: http://www.farmallcub.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?f=145&t=16305

EDIT: Don beat me to it.

Operator's Manual has pictorial wiring diagrams. These diagrams are for factory fresh tractors. Your tractor's wiring and electrical components may have been altered at some time after leaving the factory.
I have an excuse. CRS.

Thanks for all the tips! I have decided to start from the beginning, replacing fluids, flushed out oil filter, element looked brand new.....radiator, replaced plugs, now to deal with cups and such. Wiring looks pretty haggard. My need new wiring throughout. Goal is to get her running for the 4th of July parade!

6V with magneto. I found a page in the owners manual with a diagram, not sure if it's complete enough for me. I'm replacing and checking all fluids before I try to start it.

You may already know but DON'T connect any electrical power of any kind to the magneto. You will probably do some permanent damage to the coil.
