Re: hello from central ohio
Need some more details about what happens or does not happen when you try to start it, i.e. spark at plugs/distributor/coil. 6v or 12v? Fuel flow? Compression check? How long since a tune-up? You'll probably get more input if you post the question on the FARMALL CUB Forum. Stan

Re: hello from central ohio
Hi,
Welcome to the website. I have seen a Cub have oil run out like that before. The governor gear oil seal is probably leaking at the base of the Battery Ignition Unit. Then the engine oil gets into the Battery Ignition Unit. Here is a pic below.
They have to be pulled somehow, unless you want to take out the governor, then you can hammer the seal out from the front.
The seal has to be put in the hole in the engine to a certain distance or measurement. Be sure to point the seal lip forward when putting in a new seal.
The points may be old and burned, or the condenser, or the coil may have quit, if there is no spark. Any of the 3 things will make the spark quit. Or could be the wiring or switch, check and see if battery voltage is getting to the coil.
Hopefully you timed it right when you put the unit back on.

It's very possible that the engine is now out of time. Check the manuals link above for GSS 1012 Electrical Equipment http://www.farmallcub.com/[ Sorry, direct links to manual section is not allowed. ]/downloa ... -27-55.pdf or try the search function for instructions on timing the engine.
