Nixon Auctioneers performed an auction for Jack Carson of Diagonal, Iowa last Saturday. Several Farmall Cubs were among the group, among many other Letter Series tractors. Most of the tractors sold for what I thought were below their value, but not all.
This red/cream Cub sold for $2000 and the red/gold one behind it went for $1650.
There was a Demonstrator (all fixed up) that sold for $4700! Didn't realize until halfway thru the bidding that a friend of mine from the IHCC Chapter #1 bought it. I ribbed him later about being short on cash.
I was interested in buying the Farmall AV, but found that it had a cracked/welded torque tube and stuck engine (sale bill didn't mention these items). It sold for $2600, too high for me.
It was a nice sale. Went by fast. My best friend rode along with me (3 hours one way) and encouraged me to buy something, but I came home with an empty trailer. Always have a great time when Robyn comes along.
EDIT: Forgot to mention a nice 1952 IHC truck with 29K original miles, went for about $14,500.

Re: Attended a Tractor Auction
Good to hear you and your best friend had a great time. Seems like there was some very nice stuff and some leave it behind stuff. I don't attend many auctions but guess you can't get a good deal all the time.
