intake hose

Postby technova » Sun Jul 17, 2016 1:26 am

I have a replacement carb on my Cub with a 1 5/8" OD and the original tube from the air cleaner is 1 1/2" OD.
I previously removed the air cleaner and ran a K&N right on the carb. That got lost when I moved and I would
like to put the air cleaner back on. I cannot find a hose to fit.
Any ideas on a short hose to adapt top these two sizes?

TM sells a replacement hose http://www.tmtractor.com/new/ae/4537fp.htm

Do you happen to remember the K&N model or part number us used? I spent some time on their site a while back did not find anything.

So, the part form TM replaces the rubber hose at the carb, the steel pipe up to the air cleaner and the rubber hose at the air cleaner?

I do not remember what the part number for the K&N filter was. An old parts guy I worked with looked it up in a catalog before the days of computers.
It was a clamp on tapered cone that just fit in lengthwise. I have not been able to find it on K&N site or Green Filter site.

Looks like a K&N RC-2290 or RC-2294 will work on a 1 5/8" diameter inlet, given the specs call for the mounting flange to expand 1/16" to accommodate in-between sizes.

Hi,
Yes, if you have a Zenith carb, which they used on Cubs 1975 and newer, the 1 piece hose replaces the 3 pieces used with the IH carb.
Some people put a Zenith carb on in place of the IH carb, on the Cubs older than 1975.
Here are pages from the Cub parts book showing the parts. The 3rd page shows a Zenith Carb. :)
