Broken exhaust manifold
Yesterday I broke my exhaust manifold in 2 pieces. It's in a non weight baring spot. Is there an epoxy that will stand to the heat? I don't have a nickel rod or stick welder. Thanks.

I would think jb weld should hold up to the heat just make sure to clean the break well beforehand

Looks like it should work temp-wise, I don't think a Cub manifold gets that hot. I have to say though if it was mine I'd find another manifold.

Re: Broken exhaust manifold
Exhaust manifold temperatures for gasoline engines can reach 1400 degrees F. An epoxy capable of with standing repeated and continuous temperatures that high - probably not.armed hillbilly wrote:Yesterday I broke my exhaust manifold in 2 pieces. Side note. We use to heat our C rations on engine manifolds.

Navy, bunch of wimps. The C rations were better than the delivered prepared Army mess hall meals.Scrivet wrote:I was in the Navy, our food was heated in the oven for us.Eugene wrote:........ We use to heat our C rations on engine manifolds.
Brother in navy birthed at port in Virginia. He spent Christmas weekend with me in the Army barracks at Fort Belvoir, Virginia. Couple years later I was bragging to my father about the fantastic Christmas meal we had in the Army dining facilities. Dad said that my brother told him that it was the worst meal he had since his tour in the Navy.
Did I tell you about the time I saw Miss America or Bob Hope. Blizzard.

Add another $15 for s/h. Still, pretty good price not to worry about weather JB Weld is going to hold or not. You might try the JB Weld and test it out over a period of time, then let us know how it worked. It would be useful information.

This wimpy Navy man, heated his C rats over little balls of C4 explosive, in the field, with the Marines. Wish I had a manifold to hear it on! (Viet Nam, 68 Tet offensive)

armed hillbilly,
If this one on Craigslist doesn't work out for you, I have one with the elbow (no clamps) that you can have for the same price - $15 plus shipping.
