Wheel nut removal

Postby Novice2u » Fri Aug 19, 2016 3:55 pm

New member from Ontario Canada. Just purchased a Farmall Cub serial 135839. Need to replace rear wheel which has weights. Tried to use usual arm power even with extended steel pipe over the wrench- not budging. Don't want to use heat. Any ideas how to remove these without possibility of snapping the lugs and creating serious issues? Appreciate any ideas.

They are bolts, not nuts. Spray some of your favorite penetrant on both ends of the bolt, every day for several days. Then give it a try.

Impact, but not with such force that you twist it off. In addition to Don's suggestion

You also might try a few solid "whacks" with a shop hammer, sometimes this will help break the bond. Since you have wheel weights installed you could use a solid rod to extend out past the weights and hit the end of the rod. Stan
