Rebuild Hydraulic Block Questions

Postby kajun » Tue Aug 23, 2016 10:42 am

Men:

troopfpc has the wonderful pictorial explaining how to rebuild the hydraulic block . See link:

viewtopic.php?f=11&t=42857

The unit on my 1960 Cub Lo-Boy is pouring out fluid at the front mounting bolts . Therefore I will order the rebuild kit from TM Tractor today.

Questions:

1. troopfpc is silent on where , if at all , the Control Leather Boot [ pn 351753R3 ] fits and on the need to replace.

2. I haven't disassembled unit yet . So I am wondering whether it is likely that the Strainer [ pn 35198r92 ] and the Rubber Boot [ pn 364832R2 ] are likely to need replacing . Unit works fine ; it just leaks to beat the band.

Obliged for any help and guidance.

Kajun

Best to disassemble and see if additional parts are needed, and order together. Be sure to order the parts to fit your block number.

Hi,
Have you looked closely to see if the oil is leaking from the small diameter control valve that goes in the front of the Touch Control block. The guys on here post about some of them leaking. If the o-ring leaks, fluid will run out and down by the front mounting bolts.
There is one o-ring on the valve.
They say the unit does not have to be disassembled much to replace the 0-ring, the valve slides out the front of the block. I've read that you need to take the unit loose, and lift the front some, so the valve will come out. So the hood and throttle rod have to come off, maybe starter rod and choke rod too, I'm not sure.
The seal on the lift cylinder can leak too, so could be either one, or both.
Here are pages from the Cub parts book. The parts are numbers 20 and 21 in the pic.

I would bet the oring on the control valve is bad and the outer rubber boot is gone or little is left of it
