IH Carb
I have a IH carb that is in bad need of a rebuild. I think the float has a hole in it...it floods out after a few minutes and fuel runs out the air vent and will continue to run out if I don't shut the fuel off. Can someone give me the items numbers for a GOOD rebuild kit from McDonald Carbs or Steiner. Rick Prentiss rebuilt the one on my other tractor and it works perfectly. Too bad he is out of the business

Re: IH Carb
Ken, why not just put that carb in your pocket, along with the kit, and head over to Bob McCarty's Rocky Mountain Cubfest. He is one of the forum guys who rebuilds carbs, and can probably fix you up!!!
And while he is working, YOU can join the others guys in their BULL sessions!!!

Re: IH Carb
If you are looking for someone to rebuild an IH carb for you I have used Mike Finch. He does more of a remaunufature than a rebuild with inserts, machining & the correct main jet for your year cub. Usually takes 1 day.
If you are interested PM me and I will send contact info.

Re: IH Carb
Sounds great but that's a long ways from KY Hey John Puckett...are you interested in a carb rebuild session at Cubarama?

Ken, that's what I was thinking too. If need be you can send it to Bob or Cecil and they will fix you right up.
There are two ways to get enough Cubs. One is to continue to accumulate more and more. The other is to desire less.

Re: IH Carb
Ken, I would suggest opening it up to see what is needed (be careful of the idle tube). The brass parts rarely need replacement. If it's the float then a float and body gasket may be all that are needed. If it's the needle valve, you may just need to clean the seat. You can buy individual parts from McDonald Carb and not have a bunch left over from a kit. If you buy a whole kit, I think both are similar but Steiner may charge more for handling and shipping.

Re: IH Carb
What Bob said. But I'll add that I only use the needle and seat that I/H sells. I do not like the fiber tipped needle valve I've had to many problems with them.
