Guide for swapping radiator bolster?

Postby capouch » Fri Sep 16, 2016 1:34 am

I have a cracked radiator bolster on my '75 Cub, and I found a (used) replacement which I now want to install.

I have Googled a variety of terms and am a little surprised at how little I came up with, given how common this procedure must be.

I hope someone here could point me in the right direction? I have a copy of the Cooling System manual, but it isn't complete enough to use as a guide.

Put the tractor in gear and block the rear wheels front and back.
Raise and block the front end up enough to remove the wheels.
Remove the hoses from the radiator.
Disconnect the steering shaft.
Remove the bolts and pivot pin to take off the axle.
Remove the radiator and shroud.
Remove the lower bolts on the bolster.
Support the bolster and remove the 2 upper bolts.

You have to remove the hood and we all know what that means. Well while the hood is off we might as well. LOL

It has been my experience that no one should put a wrench to your Cub until you have a copy of:
1. Owners Manual
2. Service Manual
3. Parts Manual
1948 Cub
Cub-22 Mower
Cub-54 Leveling & Grading Blade
Cub-144 Cultivator
Cub-189 Moldboard Plow (direct-Connected, One Bottom, Two-way)
