Roland Lives

Postby Donny M » Tue Sep 13, 2005 4:42 pm

After putting the Aux power unit engine in Rloand, he just sat there for a couple of weeks. Finally my curosity got the best of me, I fitted him with one of those re-built carbs, a new length of exhaust pipe and a new battery. Today I hooked up a small gas tank and cranked him. Nothing :!:   Then I remembered Roland has a battery ignition. I touched the coil wire to the battery and off he went. Roland runs so well that you can see his smile from a mile away.

All I did to this Aux engine was to check the compression and each cyclinder was around 120 pis +- and changed the oil.

I don't know what the difference is, but my power unit is stamped 2500 rpm max. and the manuals all say the same thing ...max rpm 2500. The power unit definately runs faster..Is the governor on a power unit different :?: Mine looks the same as the Cubs but it does run faster :?:

He probably wasn't smiling when you approached him with that 1 1/4 pipe.
In fact, he probably had that look we all do when the proctologist starts putting the gloves on.  :x

Donny and Harold: Give us the true story on mis-measurement of pipe. Or, maybe the true story depends who is telling it!!!. Dan

I call Donny on occassion......sometimes in relation to the tractors......sometimes other things. Yesterday he was returning my tractor related call, and since he was in the city, he decided to get Rloand's
exhaust pipe, but didn't remember the size. In my haste to be of service, I went into my shop......grabbed a rule, and measured OD, instead of ID.....giving him 1 1/4....instead of one inch. I try to find the humor in a situation like this.......while Donny is out a few bucks for some pipe with little use....maybe an outhouse key.
