Need Headlights for 68 Cub

Postby sentimentalcub » Tue Oct 18, 2016 4:55 pm

So I have a parts list for things needed on my Cub. One thing it lacks are the headlights which I believe finishes off the look. It's a 68 Cub 12 volt. Im assuming my uncle took these off when he owned and probably trashed. I have looked at eBay and various tractor websites for replacements which seem to run $90-up for a pair. Any suggestions on places to find a good used set? If I need to buy a new set so be it but used is fine as I plan to repaint. Also what is the correct type headlight for this year Cub?I want to keep as original as possible Thanks

Hi,
Here is the cover from the 1965 Cub owner's manual showing the right side headlight.
They use a plug that plugs into the headlight. You need those on the headlight wiring.
If you want to buy used ones, you could put an ad in the Vine, here on this site. Go to the top left of the page and click on Board Index, it should be in the list on that page. :)

used is your only choice if you want the correct lights, they do not reproduce them, they are the same from 1964 and up and fit many models

The boys and I had a 1968 LoBoy for a short time that needed headlamps.
I found a pair of NOS #376849 R91 on eBay - back in 2008. As Tim (tst) noted, these were used by IH on many different pieces of equipment.

Good luck hunting for some!

Peter

I guess I'll keep looking for a set. Most of the ones I find are the red primers that came off the older Farmalls. Thanks all.

They were also on the Farmall 140s of the same era. If your wiring doesn't have the original "plugs" it is ok. Just attach some flat blade connectors to the sires and use some heat shrink on them. They look like these..............
