Cub does not start with hand crank, does with starter.

Well ,starts easy with starter till battery was dead today.
Magneto clicks when hand cranked.
It has never started for me with the hand crank.
Any idea's why? Timing need to be different?
Taking the charged battery back out to the property tomorrow , hoping the high charge switch position ( cut out) was faulty.
It has been charging previously on low setting. Not sure how it was on high.....

When I had a problem starting by crank it was because I had a weak coil.
If you've ever had a problem with stalling and having to let it cool down before it will restart, that can also be a sign of a bad or weak coil.
Why is there never enough time to do the job right, but always enough time to do it over. :?:

No stalling problem. ( Stalled brush hogging a couple times when fed to much but restarted fine.)Coil is about a month old and seems to behave well.

Did you read John *.?-!.* cub owner thread on contest why his cub was not hand cranking good? Most likely trip needs new springs. not just the 2 small ones but all 3. it also could be worn pawls or the pin the pawls trip against.

Or static timed? Tune up? Compression test?

Recent ( past month) tune up and timing. Compression seems good ,even to the point of being quite noticeable hand cranking. No other cub to compare to ....but more than anticipated. No guaged test ran though. No plug looked fouled.
Tractor does pretty good under load too.

Will get into the mag this winter and re-time after.

Try leaving full choke for a couple more pulls. (but still turn the switch on)

Drove it over to my tractor guy's place for winter project of splitting it to change out the trans tube.
(He has a garage(!)).
I'll give full choke a couple half turns a whirl when I visit.
Cub does not pop off like other tractors when it starts ..kind of rumbles to life instead.
