This one has been started for years, lol. I am only getting it in better shape. I don't want to paint it until our son is big enough to help, it'll mean more to him.

Hi Chipmaker,
Really nice work on making the new nuts and other parts.
I remember you wrote that a seal you put in was beat up by the time you got in in place. Just thought I would say that when installing an oil seal it works better to put a piece of thick, flat steel over the seal, that covers the whole seal, or a round socket, and hammer on that, the seals are not supposed to be hammered on directly. I don't know if you knew that or not.

Re: Restoration Project - Five digit Cub
Yeah Glen I did beat the magneto seal up on Arnold about a month or two ago, I got in a hurry and did it right the second time which I should have done the first time. This seal on Walt I pressed it in about 6 years ago when I replaced the final. The nut wasn't in the best of shape and I should have made a new one then, again me getting in a hurry didn't do it and here I have had to redo the seal and got around to making the new nut for it. Walt here wasn't leaking that bad, it was more of a wetness. I checked the fluid level and it's still full and still looks new from about 6 years ago. I just can't stand a leak and do what I can to try and fix whatever is leaking.

Re: Restoration Project - Five digit Cub
I noticed the other day when I moved Walt the transmission didn't want to come all the way out of reverse when it was put in neutral. Rather than letting someone get hurt because of this I pulled the top plate this morning to inspect. The shifter thingamabob was broken and the bolt was lose. I had the tranny I took off this tractor several years ago and it's broke as well. Welded this one up, made a new gasket and getting ready for re-install.

Re: Restoration Project - Five digit Cub
This one is back at the house. Not much to do to it but a little sanding here and there and paint. I did a lot of work on it years ago and fixed everything that needed to be fixed here recently that I didn't do then.

Walt got him another set of front wheel weights after a wire brushing with the 4" brush on the angle grinder.
