The kill switch is incorrect for a magneto ignition.

What should the kill switch look like and is it in the right position?

Hi,
Look at my post at your other post, and it shows what the 1947 Cub owner's manual shows.
The ignition switch and light switch are in the right places, the pic in the manual shows.
That is the correct dash it looks like, Tim, in the TM Tractor pics.
Your ignition switch knob is different than the manual shows. I don't know if it's just a different knob, or the whole switch has been changed.
Here is a page below from TM Tractor showing the knob, there are pics of the switches below on that page. The magneto switch has 1 post for a wire.

Probably the switch has been changed. I've read other posts that indicate a magneto switch (kill switch) is different from a battery ignition switch (which completes the power supply circuit to the coil). But someone may have figured out a way to "rig" it to make it work. On this 70+ year old tractor just about anything is possible to have been changed/modified in some way.

It looks like somebody might have relocated the oil gauge at one time.

aside that the wrong kill switched being used and the lack of a ammeter the optional oil pressure gauge kit is missing. In 1947 an 1948 McCormick offered a optional oil pressure gauge kit. Usually installed from the factory. I have only seen 1 cub in all my years with this option from the factory. It was a early 1948
Collector of Farmall cubs and cub cadets.Injoy helping people keep their cubs running. Years of experipnce.

Chipmaker, does your 47 still have a 6 volt system?

Hi,
Here is a listing for the 1947 style ammeter at TM Tractor, if you want to see it.
The 1947 Cub owner's manual shows the ammeter in the left dash hole, it is in the link in my post above. :)

My 48 looks the same but my gauge is on the opposite side. Mine is all original, and has never been rebuilt.
Why is there never enough time to do the job right, but always enough time to do it over. :?:
