Setting up my 54A blade

Postby LRiddle » Tue Nov 08, 2016 4:35 pm

I put my blade on the other day, but it seems like it should lift higher. Right now it only clears the ground at 5 3/4 inches. Also, the plates that pin the blade to the frame are both bent, at the same places, in the same direction. It doesn't make sense to me that these should be bent, since it prevents me from being able to get the pins in the bottom holes. But the way they are bent the same on both sides seems to perfect to be an accident.
Anyone have any thoughts on A, getting the blade to lift higher and B, these bent plates on the blade?

Heres some pictures of the current set up, the blade height and the bent plates. As always, thanks for your time.

Bent plate. They curve in above and below the frame it pins to.

You're missing the boomerang that mounts to the hydraulic block. I'm not positive, but think that might gain a couple of inches in lift. The plates on the blade are supposed to be curved. I think that is so you can angle the blade, although I've never tried to do that.

I'm not sure what the boomerang is. Is it part of the touch control, or prt of the blade attachment?

Part of the blade mounting hardware.

Here's a link to TM Tractor, the boomerang is the curved piece in the lower right corner on the pallet in the first picture: http://www.tmtractor.com/tm-tractor/gim ... et_001.htm

Is there a picture or dimensions of this boomerang so I can buy one or have it made?

Edit: Nevermind, I just saw the above post . Thanks.

That's really aggravating because I bought the blade months ago on Craigslist. No way to track the previos owner down.

I'm still at a loss for where the boomeranh mounts. Looking at the PDF manual I downloaded and I don't see it anywhere.

Isn't the boomerang used more for when the blade is grader mounted? Belly mounted?

TM shows the boomerang mounted

Do you have a link for that? I tried finding it, but I'm slow.

Okay. Found the pucture of the boomerang installed, but I'm sure how that would help much since it seems to just sandwich the bar between the boomerang and the touch control. Mine seems to be mounted in the same position as the one on TM tractor.

That's why I think it's more for grader blade use. Go to my link and go to the second page to see the grader hookup

That's the direction I'm leaning too. I can see how the missing piece would provide more support, but I don't know if it gets you any more height mounted on the front. Thanks.
