Happy Thanksgiving Everyone

Postby Drfting1 » Thu Nov 24, 2016 2:39 pm

Happy Thanksgiving Everyone, all excited here, just brought my 53 cub home the other day, thought I'd share a picture, can't wait to get started on her, going to start on rebuilding touch control right away to get rid of that leak, then I'll probably start on the rest of her after the holidays

Happy Thanksgiving!
We've just started bringing a '59 back to life.
If it don't go, chrome it.

Hi,
Happy Thanksgiving.
If the Touch Control is leaking at the front, it might not need a rebuild. It could be the one o-ring on the control valve shaft. The valve slides out of the front of the unit. You have to lift up the front of the unit, I think, to get the valve out.
If it is leaking from the cylinder, then it has to be taken apart to fix that.
Look in with a light and see if you can see where it is leaking, if it leaks at the front.
Here is a page from the Cub parts book showing the Touch Control, the o-ring is number 32 in the pic.
Check the Touch Control fluid with the arms in the rear or down position, the fluid rises in the unit when the arms go down. If you fill it with the arms ahead, it will have too much fluid in it. :)
