There is a keyed washer under the nut. One side of it is bent up against the nut to keep the nut from rotating. Take a small chisel or punch and gently flatten that bent side back down. Then you can remove the nut. Upon reassembly, the tab needs to be bent back up again. Be careful with the washer, new ones are $40.

There's a video on youtube from Steiner Tractor showing how to rebuild the touch control hydraulics. If you search on youtube for "Farmall Cub touch control rebuild" it will come right up.

It's one of those things on my "to do" list that I haven't gotten around to yet myself, but I need to. My tractor is nearly 67 years old, and I'm pretty sure that it's never been rebuilt.

You may want to look at replacing the seal type as well if it is the O ring type viewtopic.php?f=1&t=40331.

Once the lock washer is flattened I grab the gear with either a large pair of channel locks or vise grips (it is hard, you will not damage it) and spin the nut off with an impact wrench. I use an abrasive buff in my Dremel to smooth the area where the o-ring runs. I have fished so many of the nuts out of oil pans for people that I now use Loctite in addition to the original washer or replace original washer and nut with a self locking nut.
