Where these designed for cubs specifically, or did people just use them for cubs? I've found one but don't have a manual or any information on it. I've also searched the forum over trying to find pics of one mounted with no luck. I didn't know if they were used with the john blue tractors or built specifically for cubs. Thanks and any pictures would be appreciated.

Re: John Blue Stalk Chopper
Brandon Webb,
Well, As my screen name suggests, I have a Stalk Cutter. The John Blue Company built them. The Blue Family were cotton farmers in the Huntsville Alabama area. The stalk cutter will fit many tool bars on many different models of tractors (Allis Chalmers G, Avery, Massey Harris Pony, A, cub, Super A, John Blue, etc...). The stalk cutter was used to cut up corn stalks, okra stalks, cotton stalks, and any other fiberous plant stalks into about 9" long pieces. It could be used as soon as the crop was harvested. This would enable the farmer to plow the field without having long stalks foul the plow with trash. It was another tool you could buy to help out on the farm. They were rendered obselete when rotary mowers came along.
I have one mounted on a Super A and the down pressure makes it effective. They catch attention at tractor shows.

Thought I had pix but can't find them. Here is a video I made several years ago. Towards the end you might be able to see how it attaches.
There are two ways to get enough Cubs. One is to continue to accumulate more and more. The other is to desire less.

Thanks guys. Guess I always assumed they were used after corn had been cut.
