Hello everyone! I am new to the forum and to cub tractors. I am rebuilding a 1955 cub that my brother started taking apart over 30 years ago. His intentions were to covert from 6-12 volt, so I have no idea why he removed the radiator and carburetor. Well I found everything but the carb. My question is my neighbor gave me a parts tractor and there is a carb. on it but it doesn't look.like it's the correct one. Please give me your thoughts.
Also I am thinking about repairing me seat post. I think I can get a pice of square tubing and removing one side giving me basically c channel to replace this rotted out piece.
Thanks in advance for sharing your thoughts.

That is for sure not a Cub carb! Your seat frame can be repaired, did one not long ago.

Re: Opinions needed
The carburetor appears to be a Bendix, probably says Zenith on the back side. Definitely not original to the standard Cub or the numbered Cub Low-Boys. I would look it over to see if I could make it work. But, my opinion, I would look for an IH carburetor.

That carb is either from a 184 Lo-Boy or is one of the replacements that IH sold after they quit making the original style carbs. It fits and works OK as long as you use an intake hose like the one on your picture.
Nearly anything is repairable but you may decide it is easier to just find a replacement seat post. What does your parts tractor have for a seat?

It's seat post isn't as bad but to bad to replace yhis one. As for as the carb my first thought is no go. Where it mounts doesn't fit like it is supposed to.

That looks great! What did you use to make the mount? I need to get me a die grinder so I can clean parts up like you have here.

It was all flat stock then welded and ground by hand with a hand grinder.

Hi,
Welcome to the website. Here are listings from TM Tractor showing a new IH style carburetor, air cleaner pipe, fuel line, hose, and hose clamps, if you want to see them. The clamps are supposed to fit the hose, I haven't bought any there myself.
You can probably find used parts somewhere, or put a want ad in the Vine pages of this site.

Don't immediately give up on the Bendix/Zenith carburetor. Some of the linkage attachment parts and fuel line fixture are changeable from left to right.
