getting mower under cub

Postby kenscub » Tue Mar 21, 2017 8:43 am

Almost finished redoing Cub. Now I need to get the 42" IH mower back under the Cub. To get the mower out last fall I used my chain hoist, raised the front wheels of the tractor and used my cub cadet and chains to drag mower out. Lota of trouble and cant possibly be the correct way. The mower weighs more than I do and sliding it is not a good option. Any threories? Thought about building a ramp and driving one of the front wheels over the mower. help?

I just drove over my woods with the front wheels. Put some blocks under the deck to brace it up and a border on front and back for ramps

I drive over all of mine with blocks and ramps.---It don't hurt anything, cub dont weigh enough to bend them.---When you get old and crippled (not you John!! LOL!!!) like some of us the block and ramp thing works the best! ----Others will say that we do it wrong, BUT its me trying to get things done and we have to adapt!! thanks; sonny

I have always drove over mine to get it off and on. Last fall the lift linkage got tangled up under there and broke the ratchet pulley on top of the mower. That is serious. A new pulley is $200+ so don't break it.

I jack up one back tire and slide it in from the side. I just don't like driving over the mower deck.

For what it's worth, the weight being supported by the Cub's front wheels (without any implements mounted, no fast hitch, no front wheel weights) is about 285# each.

This is what I do with my woods 59. I use the hook end of a wrecking bar so I don't have to bend over.
