Going to rebuild my touch control block and need help with what parts I need to purchase. The kit at TM looks like it doesn't include filters/screens and there are other parts needed. Also need to know what fluid to add after rebuild. I have the info from the "how to forum" but want to have all parts on hand before I start. Provide links if you can.
Also need info on what kit to buy for pump rebuild.
Block number is 354 399 R1 "L". I can find no numbers on my pump.

Re: touch control block filters and oil
If you go to TM Tractor's site, you can see the kits and large filter. You may or may not need it, but if the unit has been working it may be okay. There is only one pump kit, although there are two block kits based on part #. TM shows that also. If the leather/rubber boots on the pistons are shot, those are a separate order. Otherwise, the two kits, filter and boots should be about it. What is wrong with your hydraulics that makes you think you need the rebuild?

My 49 does not have the touch control system however I was given all but the pump. Bought the pump on-line and opened it up, replaced gasket and "O" rings. It looked clean however the screen in the block is dried and breaking up.

Re: touch control block filters and oil
Hi,
The Touch Control uses Case IH Hy-Tran fluid, it is thin fluid. There are other brands, be sure before buying one that it is approved for IH systems.
If the Touch Control works normally, it might not need a rebuild. They need a fluid change occasionally.
In the Cub parts manual it says if you have a block number starting with 354, it would be 354383 R1.
Here are pages from the Cub owner's manual telling about the Touch Control system, the 3rd page tells how to change the fluid.
The pic on the 1st page shows where the filler plug is, if you or someone else needs to know where it is.
Be sure to do what it says in paragraph 4, on the 3rd page, to remove the air from the system.

There you go!
At $60 do you really want to replace it if you don't have to?
Ya 60 bucks, that's what I said.
Let's hope yours is good.

So I think, unless you make your own, you might as well get ready to fork out that $60 for a new filter! No point putting it back together without a new one, expecially since there are some very small passages, and you know there are little bits and pieces of that old screen that are probably "floating" around in there waiting to plug up a fresh rebuild!!!

I will fork out the $60, would not rebuild without a new one. Need to make sure I get the correct gasket set.

it's probably too late, but Steiner has the screen/filter for $37.35 https://www.steinertractor.com/IHS3484Touch-Control-Hydraulic-Filter-Strainer-filter-cartridge?&TF=76EF05D014FC.
I normally by from TM but sometimes it pays to look around.

Hmmm...that's great to know! Thanks! Considering getting one to put on the shelf for future rebuild!

Re: touch control block filters and oil
Wow, the price has come down. I think I paid $85 for the screen when I rebuilt the TC on my 1953, and it didn't fit right.
I wouldn't have replaced it except it was cracked.
