I've never seen an OEM pump with a seal, and I'm guessing few were made that way. Some guys are having the o-ring slot machined out for insertion of a seal. The main advantage to that is the seal cavity can be machined a little deeper so the seal can ride on a smooth portion of the shaft if the shaft is scored.

Here are a few pictures from the NEO CubFest of "Farmertan" preparing a pump for installation of an oil seal to replace the o-ring and a couple of pumps with the seal installed.
For some reason all of the pictures but one is rotated either 90 deg left or right in my preview. I have tried using both Edge and Explorer and get the same results.

Re: Touch Control leaking into block?
Big thanks to Bob for hooking me up with a lock washer! Started working on the pump this evening. Managed to get the nut off without destroying anything but the key wouldn't budge. Left it soaking in mineral spirits. Hopefully it'll loosen up. Ready to get my bushhog back in operation and start figuring out a leveling blade!

Cavin, I've had success tapping where the key meets the shaft with a small cold chisel.

Re: Touch Control leaking into block?
Final report on this project. Pump back together, system reinstalled, block filled wth HyTran, extra oil drained from block. Tractor is running smoother under load. Adjusted the throw on the TC lever to give me full range. The system is smooth and quiet. Also cleaned up my C2 deck blades and only put them on tight enough you get the keys in. I originally had them a little too tight and when I'd hit something that kicked the blades back they'd stick and the deck would vibrate bad. Another successful fix up! Thanks everyone for all the help!
