and this same seal works for both the right and left sides, correct?

Hi,
You should replace the seal behind the brake drum, since you have the final drive off the Cub. Then it won't leak oil on the brake. You have to take off the brake drum, and probably the brake drum key, and slide the axle out through the hole that the cap with the 4 bolts covers.
The seal lip has to face towards the final drive oil.
Below is a pic of the seal, and a listing for the seal at TM Tractor. The seal is bigger than the inner seals in the transmission. :)
