Can anybody identify this weight?

Postby DRShahan » Tue May 16, 2017 9:51 pm

Can anybody help me figure out what this weight is for? Since it's not symmetric and I haven't found another I'm wondering if it is intended to balance out the cub's weight. Thoughts?

It is a front frame weight for a Farmall tractor. It fits a Farmall 340 and possibly others. A complete set consists of a mirror image of that one for the other side and a third weight positioned to the front that bolts to those two holes shown in the second picture.

EDIT: Should have said the two holes shown in first picture.

I see, thanks! Like this one. Any way it would fit on a cub? I don't think they ever had any bigger farmalls where this one came from.

Like that although the one you have is later, for a 240 or 340. The Super C weights in your picture don't have added holes for weight across front.

I'm sure you can mount it on a Cub with a little creativity, though those weights are fairly valuable to the right person and could pay for a set of genuine Cub weights that fit without modification. If you had the matched set you could easily get $400+ because they're fairly rare.

Interesting, thanks for your knowledge! They haven't turned up yet, but there's a decent chance that the other 2 are in the shed somewhere.
