The parts catalogs continued to show the grease fittings through the latest one I have. But they may have continued to list them even if not used on all versions. If the fitting was just missing from a specific part or location on the frame, I would guess a manufacturing error. With all missing from one set of frames, it seems more like they were intentionally left off.
The jam nuts up on top are listed in later catalogs. But I never found them illustrated in the drawings.

If anyone wants to convert a lift rod to the later style for use with fast hitch to look like this here are the dimensions. It's a 1/2" thick X 1 1/2" wide X 4 5/16" long piece of steel with a 3/4" hole drilled through in 2 places and one has a 3/4" X 1 3/8" pin welded in it with a cotter pin hole. I made a sketch and here's a photo of what it looks like.
