Belly mounting with fast hitch

Postby ddub » Thu Jun 01, 2017 11:10 pm

Hey everyone,

I was wondering what all implements you could mount while keeping your fast hitch on. Does anyone keep their fast hitch on and have a belly mower? I hear the fast hitch mowers are rare... I'd like to start using my cub to mow the lawn, but am torn between a belly mount woods or c-2/3 or flail mower. Does the fast hitch limit mower types due to mounting complications?

Also, I had the opportunity to pick up a belly disk plow. Is it possible to mount the belly disk plow to the cub without taking off the fast hitch? I read the manuals, but am having trouble with the combinations. Thanks!

Well-----I took my fast hitch off because I never could find any useful purpose for having the thing under there banging around and dragging on everything!! ----I left the top half on and used it for the makings of my 3-pt. hitch, which I use all the time!!!
Not pos., but I think you must remove it to use the tractor for any mounted equipment!---Some guys think the fast hitch is the greatest thing of all time!---guess it comes down to personal preference on the owners part!! thanks; sonny

Hi,
Here is an owner's manual for a Woods 42 rotary mower for use with the Fast Hitch, it was the only manual in the group I looked at for use with a Cub with Fast Hitch. :)

If you have the correct mule drive you can use a belly mounted mower with no issues. The mule drive must bolt up to the rear of the transmission where the PTO shaft/cover is located. Here's mine on a '57 LoBoy:

Here's a similar one made for the std FCub.

FH mowers are also made, might be hard to find one.

As mentioned, belly mowers need different mule drives. Blade requires a substitute drawbar. Disk plow you have depends on the model. There is a fast hitch model(153) and a non fast hitch model(152). So in a word, no, they don't interchange

I use a belly mower on my LoBoy with a fast hitch. (unless I need to plow the garden, then 2 bolts and a belt, and the mower is off) I also remove the belly mower if I put the front blade on for plowing snow. The FH stays on..

IH did make a belly mount disk plow for use on the fast hitch, Model Cub 153 I believe. Rather than brackets that bolted to the final it had clamps to attach it to the fast hitch frame.

If you are not part of the solution,

Mine is a BUSH HOG 412 on a '57 LoBoy. Had to adapt the rear mounting of the mower and used the mule drive pictured above.

Pennington 3 spindle. I think it's a 60". P.S. I made my own final drive brackets and used a mule drive from another make, intended for a FH.
Sorry I haven't been here for a bit, and just saw the notification..
