Loboy Drives

Postby ajhbike » Fri Jun 02, 2017 3:24 pm

Is it necessary to remove the pans from the final drives when I just want to put 80-90 in to the proper level?

Hi,
It shows in the LoBoy owner's manual how to add oil to the final drives.
There is a plug on the rear of each final drive, fill them to the level of the hole.
The oil could probably use a change if it hasn't been changed in years. You need to remove the pans to change the oil.
Here is a picture of the level plug from TM Tractor. :)

Hi,
If you take off the pans to change the oil, you will probably need new gaskets.
When the pans are off, check the edges of the pans with a straight edge to see if they are straight. Straighten them if they are bent, so they seal.
I use a thin coating of sealer on both sides of the gaskets so they seal better.
Here is a listing at TM tractor. :)

Can you replace the drive pan gaskets without dismantling the back end?
