Herman, In the US, if a Cub is complete but not running, it is considered a parts tractor and they usually sell for between $250-$500 US. Unless you plan on buying another Cub and this one has usable parts, it may not have much value. Tires (rubber alone, without rims) can cost $500 +/-. You probably know what that cost is for South Africa. An engine rebuild over here will be around $1500-$2000 unless you do a lot of the work yourself.

I would only purchase the tractor if I needed it for parts for another Cub.

Considering the current scrap metal prices in the USA, probably a negative value considering the time and expense of hauling it to a scrap yard.
I have an excuse. CRS.

Ok then im doing ok im buying for R2500.15 Rand to one dollar.about 180 dollars including delivery which is a 150 mile /240km haul at no extra cost cause his family lives in my town.Acording to the celler the mag is the only part missing.the cultivator set ,planter unit,as well as the left and right hand ploughs are their and the drawbar and hitch. The going rate for a cub in running condition in sa look like about R18000 to R30000.cording to gumtree and olx.

Depending on what you need for the magneto, you can probably upgrade to a battery/distributor type ignition for less cost that a magneto. If you decide to do that and shop for a used one, be certain you have ALL the parts. Distributor type ignition costs less to purchase and maintain.
