Man, I am sure you have had that feeling where you have done alot of trial and error, sought advice, gleaned through it, did it and then hold your breath when you turn the key or push the button. Exhilarating! Best part is that I ask enough questions and investigate along the way so that I actually understand it now. Ready for phase 57! or is it 58....

Only started it with the hood off and the gas that was left in the tank line, BUT it was awesome. Cranks alot better than the 6V for sure. Not enough gas in the line and the throttle was disconnected so I didn't get to see it excite, but it was the right way to go in this case. Thanks.

Just a footnote, the solenoid actually works very similar to the manual switch with the pull rod. Inside the solenoid, the contact bar that "bridges the gap" between the two wires/contacts between the battery and the starter is actually moved by an electro-magnet that is created when you energize the winding with the key switch as the current flows to ground. That's why you have to have a good ground for it to work satisfactory.

Thank you, that explanation helps. That is why this is fun...wanting to do something, living in the "quandry" while investigating ant then plotting a course of action. It is mentally invigorating for me at 61! (Although I felt like pushing both of the cubs off the property into the salt creek several times)

You're quite welcome. At a mere 61, you're just a young chap yet. I'm fast approaching 74 and proud to be still wrenching on Cubs, Jeeps, other equipment that my Grandson likes to work on. Building memories for both of us. :)

That's awesome, cherish those moments with your grandson. I never had time with any of my grandparents, they were all deceased by the time I came along and our 2 kids don't get to see their grandparents very much at all and they live close by.

Can't push it in the river now with a new alternator, can I. It is gratifying to see progress....
