Is this plow homemade?

Postby radioguy41 » Tue Jun 20, 2017 7:57 am

This plow looks homemade to me but I'm not well versed in all the Cub implements. I'm driving to look at this one later today and am wondering if the plow adds any value. Is it even worth bringing along home if I make a deal for the Cub (I'd have to rent a larger trailer to accomodate the plow)?

Yes, it is home made.
There are two ways to get enough Cubs. One is to continue to accumulate more and more. The other is to desire less.

Definitely not a cub plow. Blade doesn't look homemade, but mounting tubes probably are. If he won't go down on price, I couldn't see leaving it behind. Does look like it could be rough on those finals, though

Mower pulley mounted on the PTO? Does a mower deck come with the tractor?

The plow looks like it will easily dismount from the tractor. Dismount the plow and slide it back under the tractor for trailering.
I have an excuse. CRS.

No mower deck but he says it also has a pull behind plow. I'm not sure what that means, could be anything from an IH moldboard to an old horse drawn wheeled plow. I guess I'll find out when I get there. As tmays says, the snow plow looks to me also like it could be rough on the finals.

The finals can handle it just fine.
You may want to keep it once you see how fun it is plowing snow. :D

I'd rather have the force being applied to the finals than the engine block, like it is with the factory blade.

I called on that tractor a year ago, I believe it is in Freeland Pa. I would have bought it but found one closer to me and for a little less also with a snow plow and fast hitch also. If your trailer has an 8 foot bed back the tractor on and let the plow hang over back end, that's the way I loaded mine. Good luck and enjoy the cub.

That's the one. Unfortunately the U-Haul trailer had a vertical storage ramp so it was not possible to hang the plow out the back. I have to go back and get it. We negotiated a good price of $600 off what he was asking so I'm happy.

Many years ago my uncle had a Cub wiha homemade plow mounted lke that. He hit a raised piece in thew sidewalk ging at a pretty good clip, and broke both rear axles. I made a snowplow for mine , and braced it in the middle along with being mounted at the drawbar. I would pst a picture, but can't figure out how to on this site.

I have been notified of the ransom demand by Photobucket and in anticipation of my images disappearing and in order to avoid thread deletion I'm adding in the original photos locally hosted. I hope this is OK.
