Pitted Hood Emblem

Has anyone had any luck dressing up the IH front emblem? Both of mine are pitted and I would like to repair.

I did do some cleanup on one of mine (metal polish), then dabbed the black paint where appropriate. However, that was on one of my first cubs, and since then, I just buy a new one. It is made from light weight pot metal (?) with thin chrome plating which leaves pretty deep pits when the "bumps" are removed. For the price of new ones, you can really spiff up the looks of your tractor.

P.S. Shop around if you decide to replace it...they range from $11 up to $29 !!
