Headed to JP's This Morning

Postby T-Mo » Sat Jun 24, 2017 6:25 am

As some here may know, I bought my first Cub last Sunday, a 1947. But, it didn't have any implements, attachments, accessories (like rear rockshaft, etc.,), nor did it have weights. I had a set of the front weights since they're the same as the rear weights of a Cub Cadet. I had these weights for a few years and the set found itself onto several of my garden tractors, including a few JDs. So I had them painted yellow from the white color that they were originally. This week I painted them red and mounted them on the front of the Cub.

This morning, I'm headed a few miles south to JP's to buy a set of rear wheel weights. I'm sure they will need to be some rust removed and, of course, painted. While I'm there I will definitely take a look around. I had been to JP's years ago when a friend of mine bought a couple of Cubs that needed some things and I went with him so he can spend a lot of money on parts and implements. I know my wife wouldn't let me spend too much today, so just the weights, but I will see what else I may want in the future. :hattip:

$60 for a set of rear wheel weights, not bad at all. I got them home, cleaned them up, ran some sandpaper over them and wire wheel brush, and now they're in the process of laying some coats of paint on them.

Here are some pictures I took while I was there yesterday.

BTW, noticed the blue Cub in the last photo. I wonder what the story was on that one.

Also, for those who have never been there, don't trust the GPS on your phone - it took me to a private paved driveway about a mile and a half north of County Road 426 which is where JP's are located. Luckily I have been there before, so I knew something wasn't right when the phone told me to turn right onto this private drive.
