Hi all,
MY 47 Cub pops out of reverse. I have to hold the shifter in place while in reverse. Has anyone else had this problem or know how to fix it?

Take off the shifter cover and see if the bolt holding the left fork is loose or the fork is cracked.

Bob, wouldn't the right fork be for 1st and reverse?
There are two ways to get enough Cubs. One is to continue to accumulate more and more. The other is to desire less.

Yes, I was just thinking about the shift pattern.

Re: pops out of reverse?
Had to weld both of ours back together, made a world of difference afterwards. It was hard to see the crack, both were on the bottom. Tried tightening the bolt and that didn't work for long. After welding them back together they were as smooth and tight as 2nd & 3rd.

HamiltonBobsCubs usually has newly manufactured forks available. Might want to take a look at his page.

Re: pops out of reverse?
Hi,
Here is a pic of under the shifter cover, if you want to see what it should look like. This is looking from the left side.
The forks should be aligned so the ball on the end of the gear shift lever can move from right to left, when they are both in the neutral position.

Bought a 51 cub that wouldn't stay in 3rd gear.Long story short, there was a poppet ball lost/left in the tran housing from a earlier repair. Thanks to this web site I (not a mech) was able to find and fix the issue.Has anybody worked on it?
