Belly mower
Ok guys so I have what I believe to be a woods 42 belly mower. Came mounted on the cub. But without a belt. Iv reaserched and found a few different things but does anyone have any idea what the belt size should be? And my other question is opinion related but Iv repainted the while cub to stock paint and was wondering what I should paint this mower... I think the original was yellow. My cubs a 48, and not really a fan of the yellow on red. Maybe also paint red or white? Can't decide what do you think?

Re: Belly mower
I've seen red Woods mowers and they look fine. I've seen a black one with a mirror finish, that one looked fine also. I think the IH/Danco mowers similar to the Woods 42 were white, they look pretty good. No matter what color you pick, even the Woods yellow, somebody is going to say it's the wrong color or the wrong shade. You can't please everybody so don't worry about them and pick what color you like and please yourself.

Re: Belly mower
I like the looks of white mowers on red tractors personally. Don't know if they are original or not but still looks good. If I repaint my woods 59 I'm gonna go with cat yellow.

Re: Belly mower
I have a different model Woods, the 59, that appears to be yellow originally.
I personally don't mind the yellow with red. I prefer the white with red, though, especially for a later Cub that also has white on the grill... since yours is a '48 and therefore I assume all red, I'm not sure what I would do. Even implement blue might be an interesting alternative.
Frankly, I don't think you can can go wrong with any of those options--red, yellow, white, blue. All would look great with fresh paint.

Re: Belly mower
Local auto parts store. Ask if you can return the belt if it doesn't fit the application. Most stores will let you return the belt as long as it's unused, clean, and in the original folder.
Order their premium quality belt.

Re: Belly mower
Try using a rope to get the approximate length. Install the rope, mark the needed length, then measure.

Re: Belly mower
If you do the thing with the rope, take the rope with you and let them measure it with their belt measurement tool. I find a 1-2" difference in what I would measure, and what they measure. Theirs is right.
