Fast Hitch Install - help

Postby Whatsparetime? » Sat Jul 15, 2017 3:04 am

Hey guys. Would someone please detail step by step instructions to install a fast hitch on a 1964 IH Cub Lo Boy?

I'm looking at this hunk of twisted metal and trying to figure out where to start. The hitch I purchased is assembled in one peice so I know I'll need to disassemble parts of it as well as parts of the tractor itself before I reassemble ON the tractor.

To make it more complicated the tractor currently has a draw bar with idler pulleys for a Mott D9 belly flail mower. I'm assuming I'll have to disassemble that first. (It's too bad I can't keep both setups but I'm pretty sure the fast hitch will have to be removed every time I use the flail mower. But oh well. I need to get used to flipping these back and forth I guess)

That said, Step by step instructions from someone who does this all the time would help.

Thanks!!

:lost:

I don't know if there is step by step instructions , but there is TM tarctors picture page :D, I bought my fast hitch from Bill Hudson and istalled it using the pictures as a guide, not that hard to do once ya getthe first bolts started the rest kinda falls into place, but I do think the idler pulley set up might be an issue , I took mine off for the install and its still off .

One thing I learned installing the FH was there are two styles of touch control FH style and non FH , it helps to have the right touch control for a direct bolt up.

I have a few pictures of details of a FH on my '57, PM an email address to me and I can send them to you if you like. I think you will find your Mott drive attachment will not work with a FH.

Mott made new lower fast hitch brackets so you could retain your mott mower and draw WITH a fast hitch!

There is a manual, but I don't have a copy. Here it is on ebay:

Any idea where I can get a set? If not the actual set a drawing of these brackets?

I have been looking at these images for days now :-) unfortunately they don't show everything.

Once I figure out how to post images here I will show you a picture of what I'm having trouble with.

Wild guess on the trouble spot,,,,,,, the right side fender,,,,,,,, the FH needs spacers on the right side fender, my Loboy did not have spacers so I was lost it looked all wrong with out the spacers and nothing rang my brain to make me think of spacers , I posted a topic on the area that I was stuck at and got the help I neded , check the link it might help ,

TST ... you're a lifesaver!! Thanks for the hitch and tips. I must've lost that spacer somewhere. I've been searching around my work area for an hour. Can't find it

Looks like I'll just have to cut one of the longer spacers to fit.

Does anyone know where I can get that special lower fast hitch bracket from Mott so I can also attach the drawbar for my flail mower? If no one has one… where can I find the part number?

Stan...I see your PTO is belted to a couple of idler pillows. What we're you running underneath?

The mule drive is from a Pennington mower, I'm running a Bush Hog 412 mower with it, No interference with any of the FH parts. Woods also made one that is similar. Stan

I've been looking for a drawing or part number for those Mott brackets for hours. Any idea where I might find those things? I have a guy who will fabricate them but he needs something to go by.
