56 Loboy Front tires

Postby ajhbike » Sat Jul 15, 2017 9:10 pm

It appears the cracked sidewalls have now opened up so it is time....but I have 6.5 x 10 "trailer type" tires. I would like to get a set of 3 ribbed...can anyone help interpret the numbers to rim size? Without measuring the tire width, they appear to be about 7" wide and the rim is about 6.5" or so

Does not sound like FCub or Cub LoBoy std rims which would be 12 inch. You might get some help by taking a rim to a tire dealer who can offer advise. A picture might help ID what you have also.

I think I will...I will take the whole thing into Firestone tomorrow to get the right set of numbers first, they are probably expensive but then I can shop. PO got his rears in RI so I might just go with them. Not many Ag places up here

I'm with Stan. Take your tire and rim to a tire dealership.

http://www.petestirestore.com/How-to-re ... e_b_4.html
Above link is how to read/determine tire sizes. Larger size tires/rims down in the link.

10" diameter rim on a Cub would be unusual.
I have an excuse. CRS.

You can shop prices at Miller Tire website to get some idea of the cost.

This is now officially a project. They are split rims and 6.5 x 10 trailer tires and the millenials at Firestone had no idea. The search begins for replacements or new rims and tires to go to the 3 rib

kind of, but they turn poorly...they scuff. And where the heck do I buy them...the 6.5 x 10 is no longer a numeric anyone uses.

Some go carts used the split rim type. You can check the price of wheels and tires here: http://www.millertire.com/ Also forum sponsors, classified add THE VINE, lawn mower salvage yards, I think the 12 inch, 5 hole rim for trailers at WALMART might fit the lug bolt pattern.

If it were mine I would put it back to original with 12" tires and rims and be done with it. They are readily available.
It is common sense to take a method and try it. If it fails, admit it frankly and try another. But above all, try something.

What are the rim sizes and tire sizes I would look for for a 3 rib? 12" x what...and rims? Also, they are pretty specific on CE and CC and bore size etc. of which I know nothing

Always best to start with what the mfg used as OEM. Here's the info from Parts Manual TC37F, Group 15, page 153:

Advertise on "The Vine", for sale, wanted section of this site. You can probably come up with a used set of rims and possibly decent tires.

Heck, several years ago I gave away a set of front rims and tires that fit a Cub, just to get them off my shop floor.
I have an excuse. CRS.
