Cub Fender Part
I am starting to restore a 1955 Cub I have. The left fender (looking from the rear) is a bit bent. On the right fender is a triangle shaped piece. Is there supposed to be a similar piece on the left fender? I suppose I could fabricate one, but are they are still available? Also, I am not sure how they are fasten on? Does anyone know? Spot welded maybe?? Thanks in advance

Re: Cub Fender Part
The fender on the left originally (for your year cub) had that triangular "patch" spot welded on where the rear end of the Assist Spring for the optional Fast Hitch attached. If your right fender has one and not your left, someone may have swapped them for some reason. Other than that plate, they are symmetrical and will fit on either side.

Re: Cub Fender Part
Thanks. So originally it was just on the left side (looking at the tractor from the rear)?

Correct, as far as I know.
From the Cub parts manual:

Re: Cub Fender Part
The part I now have its shaped more like part #2 and #5 in the parts manual (I have a copy) but it has only one hole it in it and is on the right fender. But, it would be easier if I did not have to find/replace one on the left!! I have a front blade on the tractor and no need for a fast hitch on the tractor. Thanks

And to clarify, is your tractor a LoBoy? Those parts are listed for a LoBoy.

I did not see that was for a Cub low-boy. Mine is not. It does have the underslung muffle/exhaust though. I am having a difficulty sending a picture since I keep getting a message that the file is too big.

Re: Cub Fender Part
Hi,
Here are pics of the piece of metal, if this is what you mean, it is welded on the fender. It is a reinforcement for the Fast Hitch helper spring bracket.
It is only on the left fender.

Re: Cub Fender Part
Ummm now you got me thinking. The top picture is correct but on my tractor the piece is to the rear of right fender. Now I wonder if the fenders are reversible and at some point someone for some unknown reason reversed the fenders. Now the rear of the left fender is a little beat up. I suppose that could have been the front of the right fender and some previous owner did not want to look at it from the drivers seat. In any case, looks like I do not need to hunt up the piece, but I do need to get the fender straightened. Thanks much!!!

The fenders are reversible. Yours were just swapped at some point.

Re: Cub Fender Part
Thanks Dale and Jim. You cleared up a mystery and made it easier for me since I do not have to hunt up a part. Thanks Larry
