What's the history of your tractor? Anything been taken apart or replaced? Does the impulse trip when #1 piston is at TDC, compression stroke? Does #1 plug fire simultanously when this happens? Have you checked the main jet to see if fuel is getting into the cylinders?

Nothing on tractor has been taken apart or messed with, The impulse dose trip at TDC on compression stroke, plug dose fire. Rebuilt the card twice and cleaned , cleaned and cleaned.

Did you remove the main jet and check/clean the orifices with a small wire, flush and blow it out before reassembly? Have you checked the rotor and pinion to see if the timing marks are correct? How long since the engine was running?

You said initially that suction and compression was great. Did you do a compression test? What were the results (dry & wet) for each cylinder?

What were the results? When you checked the spark was it from the mag to ground? Was it strong, blue or red/yellow? How old is the mag coil, condenser, points? All checks so far point toward a mag that probably needs an overhaul.
