2018 Calendar

Postby T-Mo » Tue Aug 15, 2017 12:13 pm

I don't know if there is a pending 2018 calendar, but I have done calendars for the Red Square Wheel Horse forum in the past. You can see the 2017 calendar here: http://www.wheelhorseforum.com/files/fi ... -calendar/ Hopefully you can download it without registering on that site.

My question is, is there one in works? And if not, I can do one similar to what I done for the Wheel Horse crowd, if one was wanted?

There used to be a calendar, but over the years folks lost interest so it slowly disappeared.
It is common sense to take a method and try it. If it fails, admit it frankly and try another. But above all, try something.

Bill, you're right, but the last calendar was for 2007 or 2008 - I think....and there's a whole new group of folks on the forum now and the only way to find out if there is any interest in a calendar is to put up a poll question...if that function still exists.

I get a couple of calendars from our chicken feed store every year that have photos of tractors however one with all Cubs would be cool, and not necessarily trailer queens.

My $.02

I'd certainly be interested trailer queens, working tractors, and ones in their work clothes. I don't think anyone would care as long as it contains our Cubs. I'm in for two or three :tractor:

Peter, I'm not saying not to try it. Merely stating that it has been done in the past. The idea just might take off. I still have this one I received from Bill Hudson.

That was a well done calendar.

If T-Mo wants to do a calendar, is the ability to do a poll on the forum still in existence?

I'd get a couplathree. There is one thing I'd like to see if it's possible. We used to get them from the feed store with a pocket on the bottom page for receipts and that. I haven't seen one in years, but can still find a use for them

Thanks, guys for the feedback.

What we do at the Wheel Horse site is this. Guys send me their high resolution images with their username and year/model of their tractor. I usually like to have a seasonal photo for winter, i.e. snow removal images for December, January, etc., and maybe a nice fall layout for October and November. I create the calendar and put it on the site for a free download. Then whoever wants one can download it and take the pdf to a print shop of their choice to be printed.

If we get enough interest we may be able to make run of them. I have never done that, but it would be doable if there was enough interest.

Calendar sales usually are fairly unpredictable. On top of that, shelf life is pretty poor. If you do a calendar, I encourage you to stick with the PDF approach.

Yeah, I probably will do a pdf version and let those who are interested download it. But, I will need some high resolutions pictures of tractors, plus their permission to use them in the calendar. So, if any one is interested in contributing, please send me your high resolution images to terry316jd@gmail.com. Thanks.

OH, and if you send me some images include the year of your tractor and if there is an implement or attachment with it, give me the model number of that also. Thanks!

I used to do a calendar for J3-cub.com to help support the sight. We used lulu.com for printing as it was on demand. Someone could order a calendar have it shipped to their house and the proceeds went to the owner of the website. After the site got sold to a corporate manager I stopped doing it as it took a lot of my time. I would actually create a poll and let the members vote on their favorite pics. It took a long time. I bet I had about 25-30 hours invested each year easily. It did create a really nice calendar though. And made enough money to support the site. I think we made about 7-10 bucks on each one. You can set your profit margin. They were nicely made and printed on a nice heavy card stock.
