The pivot bushing (#8 below) is missing from the push blade I bought. I'm looking for suggestions for a replacement. Anyone run into this before? What did you use?

I believe I found a bushing at Ace hardware here locally. However, you could use a piece of pipe, or McMaster Carr definitely would have a bushing to fit. I cannot remember what the specific size was, because I over-drilled most of the holes and put new bushings or bolts in everything when I re-did my 54A blade. I'd say get a bolt that is close and works, then find the bushing to fit, then drill the piece for the bushing. There's plenty of steel there, so you can safely over drill it a bit.

It's really just a spacer, so any piece of pipe that has a close ID and OD should work. Cut it a little long, so the arm can still pivot when the nut is tightened.

True it's a spacer but it is also being used as a bushing. Make sure the bushing is a bit longer than the width of the of the lift arm. The bolt that passes through it is 5/8" in diameter. You may also want to place a thrust washer between the lift arm and the steering bolster to keep the arm from rubbing on it. A bronze bushing will wear better than a steel bushing and remember to draw the bolt uo tight when installing your blade.

They sell them on line at TM Tractor Supply - I think. I'm a fan of buying new whenever I can. I have thought of using a piece of pipe to keep them spread to the sides of the bolster. On one tractor we had, they were thin and tended to migrate to the center allowing a lot of end play in the bolt.

Thanks guys. I found a 5/8 x 7/8 x 2 Oilite bushing on Ebay I'm going to give a try. Just need to trim the length down a bit.

The bronze pivot bushing arrived today. After I trimmed the width a bit it was a perfect fit. Thanks again guys for the suggestions.

I need new glasses or I should have enlarged the drawing. I made one for that purpose from a chunk of tool steel from the scrap bin at work. Had to have the arm welded and so had to waller out the hole some on a Bridgeport mill. Working at a machine shop has it's perks - one that allows a little "government work" here and there.

Re: Suggestions for replacement bushing for 54A?
A little late to the game here, but when I restored my 54A last year I went to McMaster-Carr for a replacement bushing. Item 6381k543 has the correct ID, OD, OAL. A perfect fit.
