Cub plow questions

Postby Dave2017 » Sat Aug 26, 2017 3:03 pm

I have a plow for my cub that I was thinking about getting out and using on my garden but have a few questions about it before I go through the hassle of unhooking the belly mower to mount the plow. First does anyone know what model this might be? Second does it look to be complete, I have seen some comment on a depth adjuster which I don't have. My cub has touch control does this eliminate the need for a depth control? Third does this plow look to be bent or twisted on the main body where it bolt to the draw bar. Below are a couple pictures of what I'm working with, any advise/ help is greatly appreciated. Thanks

It is a 193 plow. Yes, you need the depth lever, dog bone and eye bolt even with touch control. The bend is supposed to be that way.
There are two ways to get enough Cubs. One is to continue to accumulate more and more. The other is to desire less.

You do need a depth adjuster. The touch control is not used for depth adjustment. That's a 193 plow. Supposed to have a twist in the beam. It is complete except for the depth adjuster. It mounts on a reversed drawbar

Edit: Barnyard faster than me. Lol

One additional comment to Barnyard's and tmays' posts...

You also need a rear rockshaft and lift rod to raise the plow when not in use. That's what the chain attaches to.

The twist is there so when you are actually plowing the plow sets level. The right wheels of the tractor will be in the furrow about 8" below the left wheels on unplowed ground. When the plow is lowered and working it will set level and square in the ground turning dirt. The tractor will have a right hand tilt.

Thanks for help. Looks like I will be searching for some parts to make this plow usable. Are the the depth lever, dog bone and eye bolt easy to find.

Occasionally there is one For Sale posted on THE VINE, Classified Forum. You could also post a WANTED add there or check with the forum sponsors.

It might be less expensive to purchase a complete plow in good condition. The parts needed are usually expensive.
I have an excuse. CRS.

Looks like I will be watching for tractor shows, swap meets and the vine a little closer. Luckily I do have the rear rockshaft and lift rod to raise and lower the plow. Thanks for the help and telling me what I have and don't have.

Cubarama usually has a few of them the end of September

Hi,
Below is a 193 plow owner's manual, it has lots of info about the plow.

http://farmallcub.com/rudi_cub/www.clea ... index.html

Below are pics from TM Tractor of the plow on a Cub.
They do not all have the chain on the right, that goes to the depth control lever mounting bracket, some have no chain there.

Below is a pic from TM Tractor of the depth control mounting. You need 2 of the tapered head IH bolts for it. TM Tractor sells them. :)

Thank you Glen for the pictures. I had looked at the manual before posting but couldn't make much of the parts I'm missing from it but now I see why the depth lever, dog bone and eye are needed and what there purpose is.
