Battery cable overheat
Reinstalled charged 6volt positive ground battery Tractor was running on same install last week Tonite within 10 seconds cable sheathing was soft and very hot with smoke

Direct short, some place. Disconnect the battery if you haven't done so.
Check the entire length of the battery cable from the negative battery post to the starter. Looking for bare copper, worn through insulation. If the insulation has been over heated, you will have to replace the cable.
Next place to look for a short would be the starter switch on top of the starter.

What size cable are you using? It should be about 1/0 or bigger.
There are two ways to get enough Cubs. One is to continue to accumulate more and more. The other is to desire less.

Good evening Checked cable to starter Large size It was touching cable end to bottom bracket and pivot portion of starter I seem to be able to create more smoke on the cub than I do on the BBQ
