Right Rear Tire Spin
Ok, I was using my 59 cub to pull my, small boat, dock, and jet ski out of the lake the other weekend, and it went great! But I have a question, why when I lost traction did only the right rear tire spin and dig down? Should both tires have "drive", or is there something wrong, or should I have applied the break to the right tire?

Re: Right Rear Tire Spin
The tire with the least traction will spin first. (This is normally the light side of the tractor that spins first) Apply brake to the spinning tire to utilize traction of the other side.

Re: Right Rear Tire Spin
The differential isn't locked, thus the tire with least resistance is the only one that will spin. If the differential was locked when you turn the ground would be torn up because one tire wouldn't be free. When you turn the rear tires actually turn at different speeds (minimal though).

If you weld it together, you don't want to do that though.

Re: Right Rear Tire Spin
If it is the one in your avatar, put a set of wheel weights on the rear, that will help a lot.
If you are not part of the solution,
you are part of the problem!!!

Even with weights, fluid, and a 250 lb operator, the right will still break traction first...

That's because it is still the lighter side.

Re: Right Rear Tire Spin
That is why I added these suitcase weights to the right side of my Cub. These seem to balance out the Cub and make the wheels break loose equally when plowing snow.
