54A Blade Transport Height

Postby T-Mo » Wed Oct 11, 2017 7:00 am

I have a 54A blade that's front mounted on my '47 Cub. The max height raised is around 5.50 inches. I have thought about taking the tractor to some local tractor shows, but I really don't want to have to take the blade off to trailer the tractor. So, has anyone thought of a good solution for temporarily raising the blade higher than the normal height, just so the tractor can be loaded and unloaded onto a trailer. I have a 12 foot trailer with a 2 foot dove tail and a 3 foot ramp gate. I have trailer this Cub before, but without the 54A blade mounted. I'm sure when I go to back the tractor onto the trailer the blade will dig into the ground behind the lowered ramp gate, and it would be even worse when I unloaded the tractor from the trailer.

Just wondering if anyone has a temporarily way of getting the blade to a higher height for more clearance when loading and unloading onto a trailer. I guess I can do a test run to see if the normal raised height is a problem, but I'm sure it will be.

You may find some answers regarding blade height here: viewtopic.php?f=1&t=94752

Some guys disconnect the wishbone at the lifting lever arm and attach a short chain instead for extra height during loading/unloading.

Thanks. Disconnecting at the lifting lever arm and adding a chain would probably work enough for transporting. I'll give it a try. Thanks, again.
