Steering wheel spokes - red or black?

Postby radioguy41 » Thu Oct 26, 2017 2:14 pm

I ordered a repro steering wheel and it came with the spokes powder coated in black. Shouldn't they be red?

techinally yes, everything got painted red at the factory. Few items were masked overlike steering wheel grip, guages, & serial tag then red was sprayed. I'm sure the repro manufacturers paint them black so they are versatile across many tractor makes/colors.

OK, thanks, that's about what I figured since 95% of all the photos I looked at show red spokes. I wish they would just prime them though so they could more easily be painted whatever color needed. I'm not a fan of powder coating or painting over powder coating. Oh well, time to pull up a chair and start wrapping the wheel like a mummy.

yea wrap it up and try to lightly sand the spokes. Maybe that'll help it adhere.
