Serial Number on Block just above oil pan

Postby 1978cub » Thu Nov 02, 2017 7:14 am

On the late model Long Stripe Cubs does the serial number on the block cast in just above the oil pan match the tractor serial number?

a "number matching" cub is only the very early ones. The c-60 engines were used in a number of applications. do a search on the site.

You can download the database to get an idea of the engine serial numbers around your tractors serial number based on other members reports.

When you only have 9 horsepower you need to know the names of all of the ponies!

Hi,
The numbers just above the oil pan on the left side of the engine are not a serial number.
There is a date code there, showing when the block was made, and a block part number.
Here is info from TM Tractor.

The engine serial number is up by the carburetor, here is a page from a Cub owner's manual showing where it is. It is stamped in the block. You might need to clean the dirt off, and use a light to see it. :)
